Our beautiful space features an abundance of natural light, 2 bedrooms and staging areas for getting ready, indoor and outdoor settings, access to wifi and plenty of space for setting up equipment.

The Perfect Backdrop For Your Next Photoshoot

Built in 1947, The Southern Zen®’s many windows allow for immense amounts of natural light, creating an open and airy feel throughout. The cottage features a newly remodeled Chef’s Kitchen and two updated bedrooms as well as a spacious living room. There is wifi available and outlets for your equipment, plenty of options for seating and chairs, and room for a crew of up to 45 people.

The outdoor space is a Japanese inspired Zen garden including handmade natural water features, custom built seating, a custom built Japanese style foot bridge, and a fire pit option. A winding rock path leads to the backyard spot that we like to call “Under the Magnolia Tree.” This gorgeous spot is perfect for outdoor filming.

  • How many square feet is the location?

    The Southern Zen™ is 1500 sq ft

  • Is there wifi available?

    Yes! There is wifi available as well as plenty of outlets for equipment.

  • Is there parking available?

    Yes! There are 5 parking spaces available on site and street parking/parking lot options close by.

  • Where is it located?

    The Southern Zen is located in Charleston, South Carolina, in the charming Avondale neighborhood. While conveniently close to downtown Charleston, the property is tucked away to provide a peaceful, private oasis.

  • What's the maximum attendees I can have at this location?

    Ann allows 45 attendees on location

  • Do you offer hourly or daily rates for media use?

    Media bookings are typically offered on an hourly basis, with extended or full-day options available depending on the scope of the project. Rates and availability are determined during the inquiry process to ensure the space meets your production needs.

  • Are commercial shoots allowed?

    Yes, commercial shoots are permitted with prior approval. All commercial media use must be disclosed at the time of inquiry so we can ensure proper scheduling, usage terms, and alignment with the property.

  • Are there any restrictions on equipment or crew size?

    To preserve the integrity of the space, restrictions may apply to equipment type, setup and crew size. All production details should be shared during the inquiry process, and approvals are handled on a case-by-case basis to ensure a smooth and respectful experience for everyone involved.

  • What is your cancellation and refund policy?

    Cancellations made with sufficient notice may receive a partial refund or credit towards a future date. If your cancellation results in a lost booking opportunity, your deposit may be retained. We’ll do our best to be understanding and fair.

  • Are same-day or last minute bookings available?

    Yes, especially for film and production clients. Please inquire - we evaluate on a case-by-case basis depending on availability and event type.
